Projects

By increasing our knowledge of normal stem cells we will understand more about stem cell behaviour in tumours and this will enable us to develop novel therapeutic approaches specifically targeted at these cells.

  • Characterisation of mammary epithelial stem cells
  • Cell fate determination in the mammary epithelium
We want to understand what determines how cells progress down the stem – progenitor – differentiated cell hierarchy, and what defines a cell at each of these stages.
  • HER2 and mammary stem cells
  • Characterisation of stem cell populations in tumour models and understanding the cells of origin of different breast cancer types
