Projects

Projects

Identifying environmental, lilfestyle and genetic factors that may be associated with an increased, or a decreased, susceptibility to the disease.

  • An investigation into sources of variation in circulating insulin-like growth factor levels
Identifying genetic variants to estimate the contribution that they make to determining circulating levels of IGF-I.
  • British Breast Cancer Study
Finding out more about a wide range of genetic, hormonal and lifestyle factors that may influence breast cancer risk, looking particularly, at women who have a high risk of breast cancer.
  • Mammography, oestrogens and growth factors study
This study investigates variations in levels of female sex hormones and circulating levels of various growth factors in relation to both mammographic density and, in the long term, breast cancer risk.
  • Polymorphisms, endogenous hormone levels and familial breast cancer risk in premenopausal women.
Mapping variants in and around oestrogen synthesis and metabolism genes to identify variants that are associated with levels of urinary oestrogens in pre-menopausal women.
