Projects

We aim to further understand mitotic control and use this information to identify and validate mitotic regulators as targets for cancer therapy.

  • Aurora-A / BRCA1 and BRCA2 association in breast tumour development
Investigating whether Aurora-A overexpression and BRCA1 or BRCA2 alterations co-operate in breast tumourigenesis.
  • Development of Aurora-A inhibitors
Developing cancer drug screens for cell cycle and apoptosis pathway targets with oncogenic activity.
  • Validation of Aurora-A variants in human tumour cell lines
We aim to validate the Aurora-A polymorhisms in tumour development and use this information to identify susceptible tumour types.
  • Aurora-A / p53 association in carcinogenesis
We aim to study whether Aurora-A variants cooperates with p53 mutations in carcinogenesis.
  • New targets
An additional aspect of our work is the development of cancer drug screens for cell cycle and apoptosis pathway targets.
